Domestic Poetry
These images are large works on paper that combine collage and other mixed materials to explore, illuminate and transcend the mundane images from which they are generated. Their point of departure is almost always a series of drawings or small paintings that are collaged onto larger papers, often recycled prints or paintings. The act of recombining creates a new image, which gets integrated and enhanced through further painting and drawing. The end result is an image that roots itself in representation, but plays with layers, spatial readings and materials, to create a sense of mystery and poetry.
